How to Share Location on Android

Send Your Location With Automatic Updates 

This method is the best, depending on your situation, is to use the Location sharing feature built-in to Google Maps. 
In this method of location sharing, the person you are sharing too will need a Google account ,This lets the person keep tabs on your location for as long as you let them you can pick a specific duration or provide your real-time location indefinitely, so it never expires.
  • Tap your Google profile image at the top right to open the menu.
  • Choose Location sharing.
  • Select the New share button on the bottom.
  • Choose how long to share your location. You can pick the limited-time option so the other person will see your location for anywhere from 15 minutes to up to a full day. Or, to share it indefinitely, pick Until you turn this off.
  • Select one or more contacts from the list. You can scroll to the right to view more people.
  • Tap Share or Send, depending on how you chose the contact.

Send Your Real-Time Location to Non-Google Users

You can use this method for those who doesn’t use a Google account and you don’t want them to bother logging in so as to see your location. This is also a great opportunity to quickly send your location to different people once, like in a group message or email.
The difference in this method from the ones shown above is you can’t send your permanent, auto-updating location; the link to your location will expire, depending on the duration you choose. Every other steps are very similar to the ones shown above. 
  • Tap your Google profile image at the top right to open the menu.
  • Choose Location sharing.
  • Select the New share button on the bottom.
  • Choose how long your location should be shared. Your options are various durations from 15 minutes up to 24 hours.
  • Choose an app to share the link through. If you scroll to the far right, you can select Copy to clipboard if you’d rather send the link later or in an app not listed there.
  • Select Share on the prompt explaining that anyone with the link will you see your name, photo, and location. The countdown will start immediately.

How to Share Your Location on Android Using Google Maps

Using Google map to share your location on android is the easiest way to share your location, because the app has a feature which is called location sharing, it allows you to share your Android device’s location with your contacts. You can choose the amount of time that your location’s visible for and turn it off at any moment. 
Follow the steps below to share your location using Google Maps.
  • Open Google Maps on your smartphone.
  • In the upper-left corner of the screen find the three horizontal lines and open the menu.
  • From the menu, select Location sharing.
  • On the next screen, select Share location.  
  • Choose how long to share your location for. You can start at 15 minutes, or select the option to keep Location sharing on Until you turn this off. 
  • Choose the person you want to share your location with from suggested contacts on the same screen and select Share. 
  • If the person you want to share your location with isn’t in your suggested contacts list, select More. You can search your contacts by name, phone number, or email address. Add one or multiple contacts to share your location with, then select Send. 
  • If you want to share your location with multiple contacts at the same time, select New Share and add them from the contacts list.

To disable your location sharing in Google Maps, select the contact that you’re currently sharing your location with, and select Stop. On the same screen you can also ask your contact to share their location with you by selecting Request. 

How to Share Your Location Using Find My

Find My app is the easiest way to share your location If you and the people you want to share your location with are using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
Follow the steps below on how to use the app: 
  • Open the Find My app and choose the People tab.
  • Select Start Sharing Location.
  • Enter the name or number of the person you want to share your location with and tap Send.
  • Select how for long you want to share your location, and tap OK.
  • You can stop sharing your location on the same People tab by tapping on the relevant person and choosing Stop Sharing My Location. You can quickly stop sharing with everyone by selecting the Me tab and turning off Share My Location.

How to Share Your Location Using Facebook Messenger

You can share your location to a person on Facebook’s popularly messenger app, If you are already chatting with the person or group. This works only on Android and iOS.
Follow the steps below:
  • Open Messenger and select the relevant conversation with the person or people you want to share your location with.
  • Tap the Location icon (arrow) or tap the icon with the four dots to find the Location option.
  • You may be prompted to grant the Messenger app location privileges.
  • On the map, tap the blue bar that says Share Live Location. If you’d rather share a static point, tap the red pin at the top right of the map and search for a place to share or drag and drop a pin on the map.
  • When you choose to share your live location, it is shared for one hour, and you will see the option to Stop Sharing with a countdown clock next to it.
