What is a smart refrigerator?

According to Rachel Rothman, Chief Technologist & Executive Technical Director at the Good Housekeeping Institute, “smart can mean a lot of things, but in the case of smart fridges, it usually means that the fridge is connected to the Internet.” Many are equipped with a screen, which Rothman says is nothing new and actually began trending well over a decade ago.

Nevertheless, the difference today is that you can “stream more useful content on displays such as music from Spotify or syncing with Alexa,” she says. Many smart refrigerators are now very practical and even capable of troubleshooting issues and self-diagnosing maintenance needs. Thanks to sensors in the fridge, you can get an alert if a fridge door was left open or be notified when the water filter needs replacing. Other features are for entertainment purposes and can be more or less useful for certain individuals and families.

What to look for when shopping for smart refrigerator?

Smart home compatibility: While all smart refrigerators have built-in Wi-Fi, they won’t always support your voice assistant or existing smart home ecosystem. So you must make sure that the fridge you bought comes fully with a built in assistant if you want to be able to ask Alexa or Google Assistant to make more ice or change the fridge’s temperature.

Maintenance: Mostly, some smart fridges can alert you about maintenance issues and general troubleshooting, such as when a door was accidentally left open or a filter needs to be changed. Such alerts can help prevent serious issues from developing down the line while keeping your fridge in pristine condition.

Cameras and sensors: According to Petrino, With your smartphone or tablet, some smart refrigerators give you the ability to view the inside and know what is there and what is not. This way if you forget to make a grocery list, you have a real-time view of the items in your fridge.” Though a built-in camera isn’t a necessary feature for everyone, it does save you the hassle of accidentally forgetting a key ingredient while you’re out shopping.

Display features: Petrino also shares that “some smart refrigerators can double as your home media center. Your refrigerator can be the new place for family photos, calendars, recipes, and media reducing the amount of clutter in your beautiful new kitchen.” Some even offer a custom user experience, such as being able to “recommend recipes that incorporate soon-to-expire grocery items, reducing food waste and saving you money.” And with certain models, “you can manage automatic food deliveries with third-party delivery services like Fresh Direct or Amazon Prime.”

Style: Modern smart refrigerators come in a different styles, but the most well known ones you will see today are top or bottom freezer refrigerators, French door refrigerators and side-by-side refrigerators. The Top or bottom-freezer refrigerators have a freezer that is located either at the top or the bottom of the fridge, while the main contents are at eye level.

The French door refrigerators has two doors that meet in the middle, along with a freezer on the bottom and sometimes a middle compartment for extra storage of beverages or snacks. On the other hand, A side-by-side refrigerator, has a freezer on one side and a fridge on the other. These doesn’t require much space for doors to swing open but mean you will have to bend down to reach certain items.

Size: Before buying a Smart refrigerator, first consider how big your family is and what the right fridge capacity is for your home. Confirm if the interior of the fridge offer ample storage for the amount of food you regularly keep on hand, Are there convertible sections so you can organize your food so regularly reached for items are easily accessible? Does the ice maker take up a large chunk of space? Always triple-check the dimensions of the fridge to ensure it will fit in between your cabinets so there will be enough airflow around the sides and enough space to open the doors.

How to Watch TikTok on Your TV

0

TikTok is a video platform that allows people to create short watchable content and share it with friends, family, or the public. In this article, we will be explaining the different ways you can watch TikTok on your TV. The directions apply to Android, iOS, iPadOS, Windows, macOS, and a different types of smart TVs and streaming devices.

How do I stream TikTok to my TV?

If you have a compatible device, you can install TikTok right on your TV, log in to your account and watch your videos on the big screen. If you don’t have a TV that works like this, your other option is to use the app normally on your phone, tablet, or computer and use screen mirroring to watch videos on your TV.

Install the TikTok TV App

The TV app works on the following devices:

  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Android tv
  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • LG Smart TV (2018 (webOS 4.0) or later models)
  • Samsung Smart TV

How to use TikTok on your LG or Samsung Smart TV

  • Connect both the TV and the mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network to begin.
  • From the Google Play Store or the App Store, download the Video & TV Cast application that corresponds to the model of your television.
  • To see the local (cell phone) IP address, open the app and tap the Cast icon.
  • Then, from the respective app store, download Video & TV Cast on your Smart TV. Versions are available for LG, Samsung, Sony, and Chromecast devices, among others.
  • Using the remote control, open the app and enter the IP address specified in the previous paragraph.
  • Open the mobile app’s web browser and hit the pencil button once the two apps have been connected.
  • Paste the link to the TikTok video you wish to broadcast to the large screen into the address field. (You can copy the link using the Copy link option in the TikTok app’s Share menu.)
  • Once the video has loaded in your mobile phone’s Video & TV Cast browser, tap the Play button at the bottom of the screen.

These steps include screenshots from Android TV, but the steps should be essentially the same for other supported devices.

1. Search tiktok of Application This is the TV menu.

If you have an Android TV, you can use the link below to run the installation on your computer as long as your TV is signed in to the same Google Account as your computer. In this case, continue with step 3 below.

Otherwise, follow the rest of the steps on the TV itself.

Stream or mirror TikTok on your TV

Another method is to mirror your screen to TV wirelessly. Streaming takes place on your mobile device or computer, and the video and audio are streamed from there to your TV.

There are various ways to do this, and any method will work even if you don’t have one of the devices listed above.

Learn how to mirror Android to a TV or mirror an iPhone to TV for step-by-step instructions. If you use TikTok on your iPad, you can connect your iPad to your TV Android streaming option.

Or you can choose to mirror your computer to TV. If you have a Chromecast and enjoy watching TikTok on Chrome, you can also cast this tab to your TV.

Publish option for TikTok in Chrome.

Connect to the TV With HDMI

You can actually connect your device to your TV with HDMI If those wireless methods have not been helpful. IThe HDMI is a physical connection, so you’ll need to sit closer to the TV than you might prefer.

Depending on your device, Follow one of these guidelines below, connect your iPhone or iPad to your TV, connect your Android device to your TV, or connect your computer to your TV.

Why Isn’t TikTok Connecting to My TV?

Unlike YouTube and other services available on virtually every screen imaginable, TikTok has remained only a mobile phone app in the US until 2021 when it came to TVs as an app called TikTok TV. Currently, Europe and North America are the only regions where that app is available. If you can’t watch TikTok through the smart TV app, your location is likely the reason.

You also need to be on the same Wi-Fi network as your TV if you’re casting or mirroring your device. If your phone, tablet, or computer won’t play TikTok on your TV, first check that they’re on the same network.

Mirroring and casting issues can arise if you’re not familiar with how it all works. Mirroring requires a compatible TV or streaming stick, so TikTok won’t show up on your screen if your device is unable to mirror itself.

The only way you can cast videos on your TV is through your desktop browser, because casting is not  supported in the TikTok app itself. There are various  things you can do to fix it when Chromecast isn’t working.

In Conclusion, Funny videos, dance challenges, lip-syncing, cooking tutorials and other types of video are what you can find on TikTok these days. When you want to catch the latest TikTok videos, why not enjoy them all on the big screen? There is no better way to enjoy all those amazing videos than with family and friends.

Samsung Z Fold 4: Price, Release Date, Features, and Rumors

0

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is Samsung’s yet to be released upgrade to the Z Fold 3 which arrived in 2021. Continue reading this article to know Everything about this phone, including the spec and features.

When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 be released?

Even though rumors seem to suggest that Samsung Galaxy z fold 4 is very much real, Samsung hasn’t admitted the Galaxy Z Fold 4 even exists.

Due to this, we don’t have any solid information regarding the device, and that includes its release date.

But, we have seen reports that the new Fold will follow the pattern of the previous models. This makes it likely that we should see the Galaxy Z Fold 4 around the end of August or the start of September 2022 almost certainly with the Galaxy Z Flip 4

Here’s when the previous models launched:

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold: September 2019
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2: September 2020
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: August 2021

Mass production of the Fold 4 has reportedly already begun, so things should be on schedule.  As usual with serial leaker Jon Prosser, he as provided specific dates for the event. If Prosser’s dates turn up true, the phone will be announced on 10 August, with pre-orders live that day before an official launch date of 26 August.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: potential price

Right now, There aren’t any solid tips just yet about the price of the phone. But as usual with new phones, we can hope it’s cheaper than its predecessor.

Based on the Z Fold 3 prices, this is how we might see Samsung price the Z Fold 4:

  • 256 GB: $1,799
  • 512 GB: $1,899
  • 1 TB: $1,999

The Z Fold 3 was cheaper than the Fold 2, and there’s plenty of strategic value to be found in achieving a greater price parity with its other high-end phones, as many of us would count ourselves among those put off by eye-watering Galaxy foldable pricing in the past.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 features: what we want to see

Now that we have a decent idea of what we should be expecting from the device, though there is still plenty of things we’d like to see. Here’s our wishlist for Samsung’s next foldable.

Lower price

Starting with something very reasonable, According to the rumor, we really want to believe Samsung could shave a bit of its foldable’s price when the Galaxy Z Fold 4 arrives later this year. The current £1600 starting point for the Z Fold 3 is more than you pay for all but the most premium, business or gaming focussed laptops.

Samsung Z Fold features

The Z Fold 3 introduces S Pen support to Samsung’s foldable phone line and we’d like to see things go even further with the next iteration. Precisely, we’d like to see built-in S Pen storage the same as the S22 Ultra an S Pen slot or caddy, depending on how you want to think of it.

Better battery life

It doesn’t look like we’ll necessarily get our wish, but the fact remains: two screens sap more power than just one. The last Galaxy foldable gave you a maximum single charge life of around eight hours, which isn’t horrific, but isn’t great either. Of course, a bigger cell would almost inevitably add some (more) chunk to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, so perhaps the hope rests more with Android and Samsung’s customizations of it, to help this year’s foldable better manage the juice it does have in the fridge.

Design

Renders of the phone were leaked by reliable tipster OnLeaks, aka Steve Hemmerstoffer. You’ll notice that the alleged Galaxy Z Fold 4 hasn’t changed much in terms of its core design. It still folds inwards and has a cover display on the outside. The biggest difference can be seen at the back, with three individually protruding camera lenses replacing the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s oval camera housing. The setup resembles that of the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

According to the leaker’s report, that Samsung has slightly tweaked the dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. When unfolded, the phone is expected to measure 155 x 130 x 7.1mm (6.1 x 5.1 x 0.28-inches) compared to the current model which comes in at 158.2 x 128.1 x 6.4mm (6.23 x 5.04 x 0.25-inches). This means that Samsung has likely shortened the device’s height and adjusted its length and width.

According to Tipster Ice Universe, the Z Fold 4 has a less prominent crease than the Z Fold 3. This seems like a logical area of improvement for Samsung as its foldable phones still have prominent creases.

Pre-Order Information

Shortly after the phone is announced, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 pre-orders will likely start on Samsung’s Galaxy Z website which could be August 10. We’ll update this page with the pre-order link when it becomes available.

7 Things to Consider When Buying a Smart TV

    0

Smart TVs are mostly used nowadays and it is also called connected TVs. Its represent the convergence of computers and entertainment with integrated internet and an array of free and paid apps.

This article will help you determine what smart TV to buy based on your needs, budget, and preferences.

Firstly, What Is a Smart TV?

A smart TV is also known as connected TV, it incorporates an operating system which allows users to access stream music and video, browse the internet , and view photos without plugging in an external device. Smart TVs are well known with people who enjoy watching the latest shows on Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming platforms.

With smart TV, You can access, manage, and view online and network-based content. Almost all TVs sold today are considered smart TVs, and many manufacturers, including LG, Vizio, and Samsung, sell smart TVs.

Top 7 Things to Consider When Buying a Smart TV

    Below are the 7 things to consider before deciding on a smart TV;

    1. Consider The Price

Before buying a smart TV you need to consider the price, There is no need to pay a lot of money these days. You can actually get a 4K and UHD screen for a fairly good price.

You can simply buy from a lesser known brand or better still you wait for sales. The quality of modern TVs is so good that it is difficult to get it wrong. The only thing wrong you can do is overpay for an inferior TV.

    2. You need to consider the compatibility

Almost every modern TVs have standardized compatibility, which means you can plug in your USB cable and watch whatever you want to watch from a hard drive. However, having two USB ports is better. Having one HDMI port is great if you have a gaming console, but two is often better. If you are buying speakers, it is often a good idea to have a more than one USB port.

     3. Consider Available Apps

The main purpose of buying a smart TV is to entertain, and your entertainment choices will be an important factor when selecting a smart TV. Although there are some TVs that are loaded with apps right from the factory. There are others that have software installed when they get to a certain country. There are also some that have apps and allows you to add more, but services such as Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime are widely available across several platforms, not all smart TVs will support all apps.

Check the installed and available applications on any smart TV you’re thinking of buying to be sure your favorites are included. Consider using a gadget like a Roku stick to enhance easily available apps.

    4. Should a Smart TV Have HDR Support?

HDR brings out a high level of detail in the darkest and lightest parts of a picture and improves the range of colors, and most of the best smart TVs will come with a picture-improving technology which is called HDR (high dynamic range).

You may experience several HDR formats like HDR10, Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), but as long as the display has some HDR support, you’re good to go. Differences between the formats are minimal.

    5. What Refresh Rate Should a Smart TV Have?

Almost Smart TVs today offer 60Hz or 120Hz refresh rates. 60Hz, which refreshes the display image 60 times per second and 120 Hz, which refreshes 120 times per second. The more times it refreshes, the sharper the image stays, and the less motion blur you’ll experience.

A high refresh rate is excellent when watching sports, but be careful when watching movies at higher refresh rates. Films displayed that way can take on a look that does not mimic what you’d see in the movie theater.

You’ll likely keep the refresh rate set to 60Hz for most content, even on a higher-end TV.

    6. What should the resolution of a smart TV be?

There are numerous resolution found on smart TVs, Most televisions are available in three resolutions: 1080p, 4K, and 8K.

1080p TVs are okay but they are out of date by today’s standards and there is no longer a price penalty for upgrading to a higher resolution, but for the best overall usage, we recommend buying a 4K resolution TV.

4K is also known as Ultra HD, is an ideal compromise because it is a high-quality resolution with numerous economical options. Furthermore, many streaming services and applications include 4K video, so you can take full advantage of what they have to offer

8K resolution TVs have taken the place of 4K TVs: Hefty-end at a high price. It’s probably not worth the investment right now because the costs are exorbitant and there isn’t a lot of content (TV episodes or movies) in high enough resolutions to noticeably improve visual quality.

    7. What Size Should My Smart TV Be?

It is very important to carefully consider the size you want when purchasing a TV, The Size and resolution have a significant effect on a TV’s price tag.

You will need to measure the room dimensions where you will place the TV in other to determine the best smart TV size, and then decide which display size provides the viewing experience you want without overpowering the room.

Smart TVs come in different sizes, The most common sizes are 42 inches, 50 inches, 55 inches, 65 inches, and 75 inches (measured diagonally). Anything over 65 inches moves you into a much higher-priced category. There’s also an extremely high-end market that caters to those who want 80-inch or 85-inch smart TVs.

Even after measuring your TV room, you might still find it difficult to picture exactly how your smart TV will fit.

However, Samsung, Sony, LG, and TCL have augmented reality apps that allow customers to view how a TV will look in a room. Best Buy also offers an AR viewer so you can check how your new equipment will fit.

5 Things to Consider Before Buying a VR Headset

    0

This article explains the 5 Things to Consider Before Buying a VR Headset, It helps you find the right virtual reality (VR) headset for your gaming or entertainment needs, whether you already have a powerful gaming PC or you need a VR headset that will work on its own without any additional hardware.

Before we go deep into this topic, let’s explain what a VR Headset means:

    What Is a VR Headset?

A virtual reality headset is a head-mounted device that provides virtual reality for the wearer. VR headsets are widely used with video games but they are also used in other applications, including simulators and trainers.
The headset covers your eyes and contains either two displays or a single display that’s split in half and shows two different images. Each image is shown to one of your eyes in a manner that prevents your eye from seeing the other image. Since the image shown to each eye is from a slightly different angle, your brain interprets the images as three-dimensional.

Below are the things to consider before buying a virtual reality headset to ensure you make the right choice and get the best value for your money.

    Price

Before buying a VR headset, You must consider your budget, The price for a VR headset can range anywhere from $10 to $1000. Therefore, when considering the price, the kind of features you need is the brand, the freedom level, and many other elements.

You can consider buying the most expensive devices, that is if you’re ready and you are capable of buying it. The best thing about it is that you get better comfort, quality, and features. That’s not to say you won’t find the set you desire on a budget, but you’ll need to lower your expectations.

     Resolution

When picking a VR headset to buy, you must consider the resolution, Remember, virtual reality is all about your vision the clearer you can see the better the experience.

Before buying a VR headset, it is always advisable to try it out to be sure about the resolution, and that is because the fact that VR brings images closer to your eyes means that you need a higher resolution.

Apart from considering the resolution, consider the field of view as it also impacts your vision. A wider field of view gives you a realistic view of the virtual world, while a narrow one doesn’t.

Should a VR Headset Be Wireless or Wired?

When you connect a VR headset to a VR-ready PC, you can do so with one cable, several cables, or a wireless connection. Some VR headsets require an HDMI cable, data cable, and power cable, while others only require a single USB-C cable to transfer everything. In either case, the cable needs to remain connected at all times. That can result in tangling during gameplay, especially if you’re walking around the room while you play.

A wireless connection is a great idea If you want to have the best, most realistic, safest experience with VR. Standalone VR headsets are wireless by definition, but some tethered VR headsets can be connected to a VR-ready PC via a wireless connection. In some cases, you need to purchase a separate wireless peripheral to turn a VR headset into a wireless VR headset.

     Built-in sound and display

The essential features to consider in a VR headset is the Sound and display, Without these two features experiencing the virtual world is impossible.

There are two things to consider in the VR headset display , which is the built-in or external. A headset with a built-in display is expensive but comes with a high resolution.

Buying a headset with built-in sound is being convenient, it means you won’t spend on external headphones, thus less costly. Such headphones also come with a headphone jack, which means you can use headphones whenever you want.

    Types of VR headsets

When considering which VR headset to buy, it might be worth pausing to think of whether you’d prefer a standalone, PC, console or smartphone VR experience. This decision might make or break your whole experience.

Standalone VR:  Standalone virtual reality headsets are wireless, as it doesn’t require a PC or a smartphone to deliver a VR experience. The self-contained headsets (made popular by releases such as the Oculus Go) include built-in processors, GPU, sensors, battery, memory, displays, and more.

Standalone VR is also described as all-in-one headsets, Oculus Quest 2 is an example of a standalone headset that ‘ll give you a decent and portable VR experience without the need to purchase add-ons.

PC VR: As the name implies ‘PC’, you will need a PC nearby in constant connection to the headset.

A professional PC VR requires a PC and a specially equipped premises where the act of immersion in virtual reality will take place. Among such are HTC Vive and Oculus Rift headsets. They have some great capabilities in terms of hardware, However, the PC in question has to meet with certain specifications (which generally means purchasing a high-end computer).

Console VR: PlayStation VR is the leading option when it comes to this particular segment. PSVR headsets work with PS4 and PS5 consoles and feature an extensive gaming and movie library. A particular draw might be the exclusive titles offered by Sony like Resident Evil, Blood and Truth and Iron Man VR.

Smartphone VR: Out of all of the types of VR, these are by far the easiest way of entering a virtual experience (and also a cost conscious choice). All you need is slide your smartphone into the headset as long as they fit inside the VR headset. The average screen size range indicated by manufacturers is 4 to 6 inches. However, these headsets can’t run the vast majority of VR assets, including interactive VR content and games.

    In conclusion

As seen above, Picking the right headset for VR can be challenging, There are different features to consider from resolution to price and brand. A correct balance between these features means a better viewing experience for virtual games and movies.

Remember, it is important to try out a few options before choosing one that fits your needs.
