When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 be released?

Due to this, we don’t have any solid information regarding the device, and that includes its release date.

But, we have seen reports that the new Fold will follow the pattern of the previous models. This makes it likely that we should see the Galaxy Z Fold 4 around the end of August or the start of September 2022 almost certainly with the Galaxy Z Flip 4

Here’s when the previous models launched:

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold: September 2019
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2: September 2020
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: August 2021

Mass production of the Fold 4 has reportedly already begun, so things should be on schedule.  As usual with serial leaker Jon Prosser, he as provided specific dates for the event. If Prosser’s dates turn up true, the phone will be announced on 10 August, with pre-orders live that day before an official launch date of 26 August.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: potential price

Right now, There aren’t any solid tips just yet about the price of the phone. But as usual with new phones, we can hope it’s cheaper than its predecessor.

Based on the Z Fold 3 prices, this is how we might see Samsung price the Z Fold 4:

  • 256 GB: $1,799
  • 512 GB: $1,899
  • 1 TB: $1,999

The Z Fold 3 was cheaper than the Fold 2, and there’s plenty of strategic value to be found in achieving a greater price parity with its other high-end phones, as many of us would count ourselves among those put off by eye-watering Galaxy foldable pricing in the past.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 features: what we want to see

Now that we have a decent idea of what we should be expecting from the device, though there is still plenty of things we’d like to see. Here’s our wishlist for Samsung’s next foldable.

Lower price

Starting with something very reasonable, According to the rumor, we really want to believe Samsung could shave a bit of its foldable’s price when the Galaxy Z Fold 4 arrives later this year. The current £1600 starting point for the Z Fold 3 is more than you pay for all but the most premium, business or gaming focussed laptops.

Samsung Z Fold features

The Z Fold 3 introduces S Pen support to Samsung’s foldable phone line and we’d like to see things go even further with the next iteration. Precisely, we’d like to see built-in S Pen storage the same as the S22 Ultra an S Pen slot or caddy, depending on how you want to think of it.

Better battery life

It doesn’t look like we’ll necessarily get our wish, but the fact remains: two screens sap more power than just one. The last Galaxy foldable gave you a maximum single charge life of around eight hours, which isn’t horrific, but isn’t great either. Of course, a bigger cell would almost inevitably add some (more) chunk to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, so perhaps the hope rests more with Android and Samsung’s customizations of it, to help this year’s foldable better manage the juice it does have in the fridge.

Design

Renders of the phone were leaked by reliable tipster OnLeaks, aka Steve Hemmerstoffer. You’ll notice that the alleged Galaxy Z Fold 4 hasn’t changed much in terms of its core design. It still folds inwards and has a cover display on the outside. The biggest difference can be seen at the back, with three individually protruding camera lenses replacing the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s oval camera housing. The setup resembles that of the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

According to the leaker’s report, that Samsung has slightly tweaked the dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. When unfolded, the phone is expected to measure 155 x 130 x 7.1mm (6.1 x 5.1 x 0.28-inches) compared to the current model which comes in at 158.2 x 128.1 x 6.4mm (6.23 x 5.04 x 0.25-inches). This means that Samsung has likely shortened the device’s height and adjusted its length and width.

According to Tipster Ice Universe, the Z Fold 4 has a less prominent crease than the Z Fold 3. This seems like a logical area of improvement for Samsung as its foldable phones still have prominent creases.

Pre-Order Information

Shortly after the phone is announced, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 pre-orders will likely start on Samsung’s Galaxy Z website which could be August 10. We’ll update this page with the pre-order link when it becomes available.
