A laptop serial number is a unique string of numbers and letters assigned to your laptop. No two laptops have the same serial number.

To find your laptop’s serial number, you can use the following methods:

1. Physical Sticker or Label: Many laptops have a sticker or label on the bottom or backside that displays the laptop’s serial number along with other information. Look for a series of numbers and letters labeled “Serial Number,” “S/N,” or a similar abbreviation. It may also be located on the inside of the battery compartment for some models. Keep in mind that the placement and visibility of the sticker can vary depending on the laptop’s make and model.

  • Once you access the settings menu, navigate to the system information or system status section. The serial number should be listed there along with other hardware details.

3. Command Prompt (Windows): On Windows laptops, you can find the serial number using the Command Prompt. Here’s how:

  • Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type “cmd” and press Enter to open the Command Prompt.

  • Type “msinfo32” and press Enter to open the System Information window.
  • In the System Information window, look for the “System Summary” section.
  • The serial number should be listed next to the “System SKU” or “System Serial Number.”

5. About This Mac (MacOS): On MacOS laptops, you can find the serial number using the “About This Mac” option. Here’s how:

  • Click on the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Select “About This Mac.”
  • In the Overview tab, you will find the serial number listed next to “Serial Number.”

If you are unable to locate the serial number using any of these methods, refer to your laptop’s documentation or manufacturer’s support website for additional guidance.

I hope these methods help you find your laptop’s serial number.
